Story of the Estate

The Lamastus Estates in Panama, nestled in the highlands of Boquete, embody excellence in specialty coffee production. The Lamastus was founded and operated by the Lamastus family, yielding some of the most coveted coffee beans worldwide. Their dedication to innovation and sustainability shines through their farming practices, focusing on selective harvesting, precise processing methods, and occasional experimental techniques that unveil the unique and complex flavors of their Geisha coffee varietals.

The Lamastus, produce estate coffees in three different farms in Boquete, Panama. El Burro Estate, Luito Geisha Estates, and Elida Estate. These three estate coffees are located in the highest area of the country in steep hills in the skirt of one of the highest volcanoes in Central America, the Baru Volcano. These estates are knowned globally for their meticulous cultivation and commitment to quality. Their innovative and sustainable farming methods, highlighting selective harvesting and precise processing techniques, unveil the distinct and intricate flavors inherent in their Geisha coffee varietals, resulting in some of the world's finest coffee beans.

El Burro is the sister estate to Elida, located high on the Volcan Baru National Park, on the fertile slopes of the extinct volcano. The Estate is planted with Arabica coffees in rich deep young volcanic soils and is kept in optimum conditions to develop the best quality coffee that the trees can produce. The cherries are delicately hand-picked, at strict full maturity, by native Ngobe-Bugle Indians in an area where our main objective is to keep the environment in its most pristine and natural condition. The coffee is then sundried for the perfect time to give it that pristine flavor. Then, the coffee is carefully selected, rested for 60 days in burlap sacks on wooden floors, and then exported directly by the Lamastus family.
